Hi guys! I miss doing this. I know I've been absent for a little while, but have no fear, I'm here. Welcome to blog assignment fifteen, my final reflection. Today I was assigned by Sabatino to do a five to ten minute video focusing on my author identity's growth. But we also have the option to do an allegory. So here it is, my allegory.
To my classmates who thought of me during my absence, I want to thank you for thinking about me. Thank you so much, I'm doing well. I just have been dealing with some family issues but I'm here and ready to work. I'm ready to unleash some creativity, are you ready to witness this? AN AUTHOR'S CHAMPION Imagine yourself as a fighter, you have some talent, but it’s time to show what you made of. It’s your debu afterall. Listen up buddy, in this class, you must be prepared to fight. I’d say the English 100 course taught by Sabatino, is like a boxing match. A match against yourself. You must keep moving, juking, and dodging all the hits your going to take. Your opponent, yourself, is ready to hit you with laziness, doubt, and frustration. But you must keep fighting because when the fifteen rounds are over and you’re still standing, you’ll be awarded the author’s championship. Currently though, I don’t feel like a champion, I’m still injured from my previous and long time rival, life. My injuries got to me, leaving me open for a vicious right hook of missing work. I did well for thirteen rounds, but in the last two, I was destroyed. Sabatino, one of the greatest coaches ever, is disappointed in me. I know he is or at least I feel that way. I won’t use my injuries as an excuse on why I lost, but damn, how good it would it have felt to be an author’s champion. Sabatino taught me how to maneuver around self doubt by looking at your own work as the author identity, he showed me the legendary DAT technique. Where I use description, action, and theme to win over the crowd. He showed how the motif jab can be deadly when used correctly, repeatingly. When I first started this English Composition I course, my sparring partner blog assignments, kept defeating me. But Sabatino was in my corner, reminding me about adding the hyperlinks tactic, and using the white space method. I’ve been writing for a long time, but I was such a novice when it came to the art form. Sabatino turned me into a better writer and I just had to go and lose the last two rounds. I’m truly sorry. “Why are you apologizing?” a hear a voice chime in. I look up and see the smiling face of Sabatino. “You still have some time before this round is over. Don’t tell me you’re giving up?” Sabatino encourages. Right, I’m not done yet. I’ve worked too hard and have gotten too far to fail. I must continue to fight through the struggle, and win. I marched to the middle of the ring, staring down my old self, and we traited blows. With fifteen seconds left on the clock, we fought desperately. I got punched with anger, annoyance, and doubt. But remembering my time with the English Composition I discourse, and all we’ve been through, I pulled myself together and fought hard. The fifteen seconds were over, and in the middle of the ring, facing the audience, we stand with the referee holding us my our wrisks. And your winner, by unanimous vote, BedouensPhilstin.weebly.com! I jumped with joy and immediately ran to my corner. I gave Sabatino a big hug, and high fived my team, The Undecideds. It was over, I’ve climbed the mountain, I grinded my ass off, this is my final blog for English 100. It was fun, Bedouens Philistin, now signing out.

Hi, welcome back! We are at luck number thirteen with our blogs. How exciting! If I'm to be honest, life is really weird for me right now. But I'll try to keep up with the work as much as I can. Can you cheer for me down in the comments?
In this blog post, I am using an "X-ray" process so I can see the "bones" of my research project argument. At this point, my research project is still a work-in-progress, so this post serves as a part of my revision process. MY X-RAY PROCESS 1- My thesis statement is? YouTube is killing our doctors, teachers, and police officers. 2- My first supporting point that argues the how or why of my zeitgeist is. Children want to be YouTubers now. 3- My second supporting point that argues the how or why of my zeitgeist is: YouTubers tend to spread that message that a person can do what they do. 4- My third supporting point that argues the how or why of my zeitgeist is: YouTuber's tend to vlog their life to their fans. Making fans want to live that life. 5. My counter-argument and rebuttal is: Being a YouTuber is important too. But I understand we need to be aware of this situation. 6- My prediction is: Lilly Singh, a YouTuber herself, says that colleges will be giving out degrees in: vlogging, makeup tutorials, and other YouTube related genres. She made a joke, but I don't think that's too far of a future. 7- My conclusion revisits my thesis statement and: If the educational system of the US, would change, I believe we'd have more students who want to be doctors, teachers, and the important jobs we need in order to survive. The only reason children wish to be YouTubers, is because a lot of YouTubers, didn't need school to get to where they are. 8- X-ray summary: I always appreciate it when Sabatino finds a way to help us out. This X-ray of our projects was a bit helpful. But Sabatino and I have spoken, and I'll be doing something a little different with this project. Hey guys! I hope your day is going well. I can't believe that I'm on my twelfth mission already. It's been a fun ride, really. I am assigned to right about my research project again. It seems like that will be the case for the blogs moving forward.
Like I said, today I'll be focusing on my research project. I only have one draft so far, and I'll be talking about the message that YouTuber's tend to spread. At first I was all over the place with my project, but after talking and listening to Sabatino, I think I got a good idea of what I'm researching. Wish me luck. O.L.O.B my friends! If you haven't read my first blog The Proust Questionnaire, you don't know what that means. It's a greeting I coined, and it means one life one body. Moving on, welcome back! This is a very difficult assignment. But I must complete this mission.
Today, I am assigned to write about my research project itself. But since I have yet to start it, I'm going to write down my focus for this project, and the sources I will be using. I hope that's what Professor Sabatino was looking for in this blog. Let me know how I did, enjoy! RESEARCH PROJECT - THE FOCUS I'm going to focus on the tremendous attention one gets from YouTube for not really doing anything that requires talent. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of YouTubers that are extremely talented. But I want to show how on YouTube, you don't necessarily need skill to become famous. All you need is a camera, and some kind of personality. I also will be focusing on how that makes the everyday person feel. YouTube would call these people the viewers. So many viewers want to become YouTubers, because they see the extravagant life one can live off YouTube. And I want this project to show how that messes with a viewer's mind. To see your favorite YouTuber vlogging about their amazing lives, to see the numbers that they gross, and to see how they've achieved all this by, recording their day to day life, getting into a relationship and reacting to videos with partner, or playing video games, I want to show how when you see all that, how it makes you want to be famous too. It gives you the false impression that you can be as big, and grow as fast as them. Because they're just like you, at least that's what they tell you. You've caught fame fever, and dropped out of school, pushed family and friends away, all to pursue this fame that seems so easier to achieve. But after doing all that, you still aren't famous, you still have to work a nine to five, and you still watch your favorite YouTuber live an amazing life. Is this why you become a hater, Is this why cancel culture exist? Has fame become more achievable, or is it simply in our faces more? These are questions I find important for my research. RESOURCES I WILL USE I like how we got to comment some helpful links on each others blogs in my English 100 class. It really is a big help to me. These are the links my professor and classmates have left me in my comment section. How to get famous on youtube and make money, I love this link because it gives me a story to focus on. Another story I didn't even look at. Thank you Sharea! This article is written by Murray Newlands. And focuses on the story of Bart Baker's growth on YouTube. Generation famous, a part of the title of this article says "Why You Probably Can't Become A YouTube". That right there grabbed my attention. Thank you Sabatino! Already this article tackles a part of my project. It speaks about how it actually isn't easy to make videos for a living, how people have the false impression that they can do this too if they wanted to. But that isn't the case, says I believe Michael Humphrey. One more link by Sabatino, thank you again professor. Nine year old instagram star Lil Tay, Lil Tay is a young girl who was forced to make videos on instagram by her brothers. They knew that this would get publicity, thus making them their little sister a star. You see even though Lil Tay became famous on another platform, her story is exactly why I chose this fame topic. Her own brothers took advantage of her all for fame, and they probably did so because of some other little girl they saw become famous on the internet. Danielle Bregoli is one, and Woah Vicky is another. You see, that's my point, people will do anything to become famous and most of the time it works, but what about those who do the same stupid stuff, and don't become famous? Has fame become more achievable, or it is more in our faces nowadays? I will be using those links to help me with this assignment. Believe me when I say that I am excited for this project. I'm just worried I won't do the topic I've chosen justice, due to my lack of skill in research. But all I can do is try and try again, wish me luck. Howdy folks, I hope you're having an amazing day. Welcome back to another blog assignment. I am sad to inform you that his is ten out of fifteen. We're almost done, I will miss you Sabatino. In this assignment, I am to answer some thought provoking questions about an American zeitgeist. One that I'll choose to write about on my research project page.
When given this assignment, my mind was already swimming with ideas, thus giving me stress. I believe that I've dwindled down the ideas to one. But I can't ever be sure with my complex thought process. Anyways, I think this blog should help me know exactly what I'll be researching. Let's found out shall we. RESEARCH PROJECT Q&A 1) What is the zeitgeist topic I want to research? My goal is to write about the wanting to be famous. Now I know that is a very broad topic. But I believe that fame is a very relevant topic. Especially nowadays with social media and terminology like clout, cancel culture, influencer, traditional media, personality and more. I want to mainly focus on the YouTube platform itself because YouTube has given plenty of people easier access to something once so difficult to achieve, fame. 2) What is the primary source I will use to begin my research? Currently, I'm leaning toward using some YouTuber's, another relevant term, stories. 3) Who does the zeitgeist topic impact the most? The youtube platform has impacted us millennials in positive and negative ways. The main theme of my research project. 4) When did this zeitgeist emerge? 2005, was the year that YouTube arrived on the scene. A platform that was once looked down upon by traditional media, is now the world's second largest search engine. That story resonates with so many of the platform's users. 5) Where (consider community) does this zeitgeist impact the most? To be specific, YouTube headquarters is located in San Bruno, California. And most of the YouTube community are located in Los Angelis, Mexico, Brazil, New York, India, and etc. The YouTube community is so vast due to the fact that all you need is a camera to start working for YouTube. 6) Why does this zeitgeist exist? Here's the actual purpose for YouTube. Now in my humble opinion, history has shown us that in generations before us, millennials. There have always been events, groups, and specific people who have impacted this world in some shape or form. I believe that YouTube exists so that events, groups, and specific people from the millennial generation can impact this world next. YouTube already existing for over a decade, has already allowed some to do so. 7) How does the zeitgeist topic make me feel (impact on your being)? I am a YouTuber, I've been uploading to the platform for fours years already. And recently, I have taken it seriously. i have sixteen videos on my channel and over two hundred sixty subscribers. YouTube is my job. And when I say that, people ask me how much do I make. If you're referring to paper, nothing. But I make people smile, laugh, and forget about a bad day. Now that's worth more than anything money can buy. I'm here to entertain, inspire, and impact the lives of many. YouTube allows me to do so. 8) How does the zeitgeist topic make me think (impact on your knowing)? I can't find myself working for anyone else. My mind is always racing with stories, songs, art, designs, and messages. If my hands aren't on a camera, if I'm not creating some kind of film with other creatives, and if I'm not impacting someone's life, I've failed. I'm a creator, it's in my blood. 9) How does the zeitgeist topic make me want to make change (impact on your doing)? For those of you who don't already know, I have a dark past. And if it wasn't for Christianity, I would of already been on the run or incarcerated. But Christianity was a religion forced upon me, and not too long ago, I had a dangerous mentality. I was done with following God and I was ready to hurt someone. But during this time period, I never gave up on this weird thing I'd do with my little cousins, create videos online. When I did this, I would always feel happy, I would forget about the dark times I was in. And when I'd receive feedback, I'd want to create more videos. Well, four years later, here I am. Still creating videos. A TERM FROM OUR DISCOURSE Those last three questions focused on a term we use in our English Composition I discourse. Being, doing, and knowing. Being is about your wellbeing and spirit, doing is about your action and body, and knowing is about your knowledge and mind. Just a little something we learned in class. Hello hello! Welcome back to my blog assignment number nine. In today's assignment, I am to reflect upon these readings To You, I Belong (Becky Thompson) Our Discourse Community Values What is Literacy? (James Paul Gee) and We Are Many (Pablo Neruda). During my reflection, I am to draw a comparison between the readings and our class.
In class, we spoke about found poetry and how we could use it in this blog. So I decided to do a found poetry for the first reading. The rest will simply be reflections. In the end, I hope that I am able to complete this assignment correctly. Wish me luck. TO YOU, I BELONG (FOUND POEM) Historical memory makes us aware that the past is with us in the present, replaying themselves in various forms in the present. Historical memory can be transmitted, while it can be handed down directly from one generation to the next, it can also skip generations. It can be transmitted in dreams, rituals, and visions. Historical memory resides in the unconscious, yoga can be so useful for tapping into this knowledge. Because historical memory is often unconscious, it can take the form of a haunting presence. Historical memory makes us aware that the past is with us in the present. WHAT IS LITERACY (REFLECTION) Reading this on my own would of been dificult. So it's a blessing that Professor Sabatino was able to read this to us. You see, I'm not part of James Paul Gee's discourse, so I have to try harder to understand what he's saying. Well, what is discourse? I wrestled with this term a lot due to the many ways my professor would use it. I believe a discourse to be the language, the way, and the style of a community. To sum it up, James Paul Gee, explains it as an identity kit. This was a complicated read because I'm not at all a linguist like Paul Gee. But after reading this more than once and finally interpreting his writing, I can say that this reading goes very deep. He speaks about discourse in such a magnified way. Within his writing, he spoke about the discourse of classism, the discourse of language, and dominant discourses. All of these topics interested me. We have a poor, middle, and rich class. And they do all have their own specific identity kit. Dominant discourse was a topic where he spoke about how there's one standard and that standard is the dominant discourse. All in all, this has opened up my eyes on how I view the world. And knowing about discourses, gives me the agency to do great things in this world. You just wait and see what I mean. WE ARE MANY (REFLECTION) Though I haven't disected everything in this poem, I understand the hardship of having certain qaulities within you that doesn't always come out when the time calls for it. We are many is a perfect title for this entire blog assignment. All of our readings spoke about exactly that. OUR DISCOURSE COMMUNITY VALUES (COMPARISON) Even though I may not grasp the complete meaning of discourse, or even fully understand the readings, I do grasp the word community. For I had the pleasure of not attending a normal high school. My school didn't even consider themselves as a school but rather a family. I guess you can say that within our discourse, there was trust, love, connection, and understanding. Those from the public school discourse didn't understand why the students would call some teachers dad or mom. Or why some students were making music videos outside instead of taking a test in a classroom. They wouldn't understand why a blind kid, would bother with giving this little, abandon looking school a sign for all to see. They wouldn't understand because they are not part of our discourse, of our community. Currently I can say, that I am part of another discourse that is similar to my high school one. Our Professor doesn't seem to follow the academia discourse. He repeatedly calls our class a community. A safe haven where there's trust and understanding. I am lucky to have found another place I can call my community. Peace and keep a haller, haller, haller at ya boy! You wouldn't understand, it's a discourse thing. . Welcome, welcome! I actually forgot about this blog assignment. I have no idea why i forgot, I just got lost in the art of creating I guess. Well, in this assignment, I am to evaluate my Digital Portfolio.
I'll tell you this much, I don't like evaluating my own work. Reason being is because as a creator, I'll never see anything I do as perfection or even good. It may sound bad but honestly, that's what keeps pushing me to do better and think different. If you agree or disagree, let's have a chat below. I remember when Professor Sabatino first told the class that we'd be building our own websites. Many things ran through my mind, I sort of already know how to build one, what are we going to be using Wix or something else? Little did I know about this free website called Weebly. When we started, I felt frustrated, and constrained. Frustrated because I was behind with the rest of the class, people have already created their pages and were already on to the web art. While I just stared at a blank template. Contrained because, I don't like asking for help. People have to already deal with my visual impairment so why bother them even more. I dreaded asking the professor for help but, I don't like being behind. So I asked for help, and when I got it, everything turned out okay. When it was time to put photos and words on our websites, I was stuck with that too. You see, when it comes to being creative, I don't think simple. It can lead to great things, but like a double edge sword, hurt you in the end. Time was running out and again, I've fallen behind. Eventually I came up with the idea to match up my quotes with the photos. I know, simple, I know. But I was going to be different, I was going to poor my heart into these photos. I did and some of them turned out nice. My professor really loves the blog page photo. One day, my professor Sabatino and I had a meeting about my digital portfolio. He really like my idea but it could use a little more fixing up. He told me to make some quotes shorter and change some photos. I did exactly that, and now even I can say, I'm truly proud to be a father. They grow up so fast. If you have the time, I'd like you to go and read this. Warning, it's some new style of writing I'm trying. And it's also nerdy, maybe worrisome. But I assure you, no need to be worried if you felt like you had to be. INNER MIND
